Health & Fitness

We bike, run, board, hike, ski. We hit the gym, we play sports, we eat well. Sometimes we are perhaps not as good at it as we’d like, but for many who make Utah their home, healthy living is a fundamental part of who we are, or at least who we’d like to be.
So The Tribune is responding by launching a new Health & Fitness section two weeks from now, on Sunday, June 5.
We are planning a compelling mix of content focusing on diet/nutrition, exercise and health trends. We’ll examine the latest fads, provide tips of all kinds, report on healthy food preparation and shopping and help you recover from both illness and injury.
Regular features will focus on specific concerns and advice for women, children and those over 50. We’ll be writing about vitamins and supplements, we’ll be looking for news you can use from the latest medical developments, and we will write about participatory sports such as aerobics, spinning, yoga and climbing. We even plan to profile successful weekend warriors whose stories will inspire.
Lya Wodraska, a distinguished Tribune sportswriter as well as a certified personal trainer, will be playing a leading role in our coverage with a weekly column responding to reader questions and concerns.
And that’s where you come in.
We’d like to hear from you. Got a story to share? Know someone who does? Have an idea or a topic area you want us to write about? Write Kathy Stephenson, the editor of our new section, at kathys@sltrib.com. If you’d like Wodraska to answer your fitness questions, write to her directly at lwodraska@sltrib.com.
Let us know how Utah supports your healthy life, share your successes, confess your failures; we’re all in this together.
With Health & Fitness coming to the Sunday paper, I’d like to let you know about a few other changes taking place at the same time:
Away, our combined Outdoors & Travel section, is moving to Tuesdays, where it will replace what’s now our Tuesday Mix section. Next Sunday is the last weekend for Away, which has a long and distinguished history at The Tribune, a history that actually first began on Tuesdays years ago. Our Outdoors coverage continues to be recognized among the nation’s best, and our commitment to it is not wavering. We think we’ll be better able to help you prepare for the weekend.
Sean P. Means’ popular column, "Culture Vulture," is moving from Tuesdays to Fridays. We are renaming it "Cricket," and it will combine elements of culture vulture and Sean’s erudite, insightful movie column. For those of you who read us online, Means’ two corresponding blogs will be combined online at the same time.
Finally, our Tuesday technology page is moving to Mondays. Reflective of our shifting world and what we’ve heard from you, we are placing much more emphasis on tech by expanding the page into an entire section.
We take our responsibility as Utah’s news leader seriously, and that includes the news that informs and enriches your life.http://worldfuny.blogspot.com/
